青春有你 Youth With You S1

In January 2019, BoYuan participated in the Chinese idol survival show Youth With You (青春有你) S1 with ZERO-G members MengEn and ZhuoYuan. Their audition stage performance of ZERO-G's《一击即中》"One Shot" was not aired in the main episode, and all three were put in F class as per judges evaluation. BoYuan was later bumped up to B class after doing well at the theme song evaluation.BoYuan ranked #53 at the first official ranking announcements. Throughout the remainder of the season, due to lack of screentime or storyline, he failed to catch the eye of the viewers, and despite being praised by all the mentors and fellow trainees for his strong vocals and dancing skills throughout the season, scored the lowest on sites votes for all his stage performances. He narrowly avoided elimination twice with intervention from the show's expert Art Advisory panel. Ultimately, he was eliminated in episode 10, finishing in 34th place overall.

创造营 Produce Camp 2021

BoYuan arrived in Sanya in December 2020 to participate in the the 4th season of the Chinese idol survival show 创造营 (Produce Camp) 2021. Among the 12 trainees sent by White Media, BoYuan was the sole survivor to pass the audition phase.For his audition, BoYuan, alongside fellow survival show returnees Yu Gengyin, He Yifan, and Dai Shaodong, delivered an impressive rendition of the theme song from the 2018 League of Legends World Championship,《RISE》. BoYuan was cued by mentor Deng Chao to perform an additional solo stage, where he mesmerized the audience with Daichi Miura's《Blizzard》. BoYuan's exceptional performance earned him 93 out of 94 votes, which was the 2nd highest vote count among all auditioning trainees.In the second round of the audition stage, BoYuan was chosen by fellow trainee Mika to compete in a solo vocal battle round, and secured his place in A class after he won the battle with an acapella rendition of the Digimon OST《Butter-Fly》, a song that he had been performing on stage since the year 2015. It was this performance that boosted his popularity among Produce Camp S4 viewers and garnered him widespread recognition. The first official rankings were revealed at the end of the audition battle stages in episode 3, with BoYuan ranking at #46.For the first public evaluation stage, BoYuan opted to perform the same song he showcased during his vocal battle stage:《Butter-Fly》. Since he was the sole A class trainee who chose the song, he automatically became the center. BoYuan flawlessly took on the role of a leader, inviting fellow trainees to join his group with the reassuring words, "我一个字一个字教你" (I'll teach you word by word), and providing guidance throughout rehearsals. This, coupled with his handsome styling for the stage, contributed to a significant rise in his ranking, elevating him from #46 to #36 within a single week.As BoYuan had failed to win MVP for the first public evaluation stage, he was demoted to B class. In episode 4, the theme song assessment was held, and the mentors, satisfied with BoYuan's performance, brought him back to A class. He actively engaged in organizing a Chinese Lion Dance rendition for the theme song recreation activity, showcasing his versatility and leadership. BoYuan's rank jumped to #20, ultimately climbing to #18 in the subsequent week's official ranking announcements.As the competition progressed, BoYuan continued to capture the audience's attention with his exceptional vocal, dance, and performance abilities, as well as his mature, caring, and helpful nature through various behind-the-scenes clips, games, and vlogs. For the second public evaluation stage, BoYuan chose to be in the Vocal group and performed Hua Chenyu's《我管你》"I Don't Care". His outstanding performance earned him the MVP title in his group through live audience voting. Subsequently, BoYuan's rank rose to #9 in the second official ranking announcement, marking his entry into the Top 11 for the first time. In his ranking speech, he expressed gratitude to his fans for their unwavering support and offered words of encouragement to the eliminated trainees, demonstrating his humility and empathy.For the third public evaluation stage, BoYuan's fans voted for him to be a part of《冒险计划》"The Adventure" team, in which Meng Meiqi appeared as a guest performer. He also gained attention and praise from netizens for his live vocal performance of Wang Leehom's《Forever Love》at the Chuang 2021 Doki Fanmeeting.BoYuan's rank dropped to #12 in the third official ranking announcement, but he was back in Top 11 in the last weeks of voting with his real time ranking one day before the finale being #5. In the finale, BoYuan chose the song《定义》"Definition" for his group stage, and for his solo stage, performed a dynamic full live mic performance, singing and dancing to American boyband NSYNC's song《Pop》.BoYuan secured 13,651,294 votes and debuted in 7th place as a member of the final debuting group INTO1 on April 24, 2021 on the night of the 创造营 (Produce Camp) 2021 Finale. He was later voted by fellow INTO1 members to be the deputy leader of the group. The group was under contract with Wajijiwa Entertainment for 2 years until their graduation on April 24, 2023.

— Are You A Werewolf —

Are You A Werewolf (AYAW) was a derivative game show of Produce Camp 2021 where trainees in themed costumes became players in another dimension and played games to win the show. BoYuan appeared in two AYAW episodes.

— VLOGs —

Produce Camp 2021 held fanvotings to decide which 11 trainees would film personal vlogs each week. BoYuan filmed 6 vlogs in total, out of which he earned the opportunity to film the first vlog as a reward for ranking in A class at the audition stage, and the last one for debuting in INTO1.

— Chuang 2021 Doki Fanmeeting —

Trainees who ranked in the top 14 in the third official ranking announcements participated in the Chuang 2021 Doki Fanmeeting held on April 9, 2021.
